The Begining of the End of a Golden Era-Sachin Tendulkar

What is the similarity between Anil Kumble, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar?????They represent a period when India was begining to assert itself in the International cricket arena. They are represent an era for youngsters like me who grew up idolizing them. Now that era is drawing to a close with Anil Kumble & Sourav Ganguly retiring.Rahul Dravid is expected to follow the suit soon.Only VVS Laxman & Sachin Tendulkar is expected to carry on for a couple of more years.

That leads to the favorite topic of all cricket lovers in India. When will sachin retire? for a unabashed sachin fan like me he should continue to play forever but unfortunately that is not possible in real life much less in cricket. As sachin himself has hinted many times that he would consider playing till 2011 world cup which now seems quite a realistic possibility. As sachin is now 35 he can play for a couple of more years based on current form. He might not be in his prime but is certainly far ahead of the rest. Also like every other sachin follower i also want him reach such a position where his records are beyond the reach of any other person. Ricky pointing is a certain threat at least in tests. But ultimately the man is beyond any statistical numbers and is a pure joy to watch. The years might have taken toll on him but his straight drive even today remains a pure joy to watch. The media and public are always behind his blood finding flaws in his technique, questioning his commitment or ability to handle pressure & perform in the finals of big tournaments but the fact remains that sachin is judged by standards that he has set for himself which is not less than a century in each match failing in which his performance is criticized. This is best illustrated in the recently concluded chennai test against mumbai. Shewag’s blistering half century was considered match winning but in a bygone era, a century against pakistan in the same venue by sachin when he fell only when few runs short of a Indian victory was considered as the proof that he was a chocker. It also highlights the evolution of indian team from a one man army to a team of individuals who are all match winners as in tests a single mans performance is not enough to win the match for his team. That being said the day sachin retires i promise that i would stop watching cricket. You may question my commitment towards indian cricket team but i am a strong sachin fan rather than a fan of indian cricket team. It might be wrong to put a man above the team but that’s my view and i won’t change it. Good luck sachin continue playing till your body permits you there will be countless people like me who will steadfastly be standing is your defense.

P.S: If you ask me what was the first match you remember seeing from childhood i don’t remember. But if you rephrase and ask who is the first cricketer you remember seeing i would answer that it was sachin playing his trademark straight drive which made me become his die hard supporter...

Is Beauty Only Skin Deep ?

Throughout the centuries the concept of beauty has been defined differently by different people. While most of the people agree that beauty is internal and one should look at the beauty of heart rather than physical beauty, for all practical purposes we tend to go with physical beauty while making first evaluations of people. The biggest tragedy is that in most of the cases its these first evaluations that we carry along with us for a very long time unless something drastic happens. It has been scientifically proved that even babies react in a more positive manner towards good looking people. In interviews also good looking people have undeniably an edge over the other applicants for the job.It does not mean that physical beauty is something bad but it does give competitive advantage for the one possessing it.We may argue endlessly over the validity of using physical beauty as a criteria for judging people but the fact remains that weather we like it or not we all use it.This is due to the fact that beauty of heart or the internal beauty is very hard to see or measure unless you know a person well. But there is no doubt in the fact that the world would be a much better place to live in if we can actually judge people using internal beauty more easily and that should be our criterion for judging people.

The Shocking Exit Of India From The World Cup

India, A country of 110 million people from where half of the revenues of ICC comes from, A country where cricket is considered as a religion & cricketers as demi gods. The first round exit from 2007 world cup has come as a rude shock to the millions of cricket fans. For a cricket crazy guy like me its extremely hard to digest the fact that a country like Bangladesh which is considered a minnow in cricketing parlance has defeated India and has gone to the next round.Though i would not like to take any credit away from them because they played superior cricket and managed to outwit the Indians.

It will take sometime before Indians cricketers can come out of this setback. The fans and the media would be particularly harsh on senior cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Virendra Shewag.Already we see the burning of posters and pelting of stones at the houses of the cricketers. There will be also a cry for retirement of the senior cricketers which might reach a fever pitch in coming days. Its no doubt most shameful moment for the Indian cricket team and its senior players. But instead of playing the blame game it would be rather more wise at this juncture to analyse the causes for this downfall and correct it before its too late else cricket will also go in the hockey's way for India.I pray that Indian cricket will bounce back strongly from this debacle and raise again to become a superpower in the world of cricket.

The Fighting Spirit

When you talk about fighting spirit the first name that comes to your mind in recent times especially if you are from the Indian subcontinent and a follower of the great game of cricket is Sourav Ganguly-The Royal Bengal Tiger. The man who had it all.He had played for 11 years representing India in international cricket out of which he was the captain for 4 years. He had taken India to the world cup finals in 2003.But nobody can change what is written in ones destiny. He lost it all,A prolonged slump in form coupled with fights with the new coach in the form of Greg Chappell resulted in him being thrown out of the team.It looked like it was the end of the career for him.All fans and well wishers advised him to retire but there he showed that was different from the rest.He started practising hard often was a lonely figure an object of much ridicule and criticism. He bore it all with the resolution that he will be back in the team before the 2007 world cup. He proved his detractors wrong by making a strong comeback into the national team after 9 months in wilderness.Today he is in his best form and lets hope that he continues in the same vein and help India get the 2007 world cup. All cheers to him.

Friendship-Proof that magic exists in the world

Friendship is the magic remedy for most of the problems in life your girlfriend ditches you,When you are having problems with your family,When you are not able to bear the pressures in life you always turn for solace towards people whom you consider very close to you and who would listen to all your talks regardless weather it makes sense or not same people guide you in the times of distress and stand by you without expecting anything in return people give you live examples of the fact that magic exists not only in books but also in real life is made up of all kinds of people whom you meet in your day today life, but only some of them leave a mark on you in the long journey called life, only a handful would become your close friends to whom you can confide your innermost secrets and desires rest of the people become your good friends or plain friendships difference between each of the group of friends is that a close friend understands your emotions even without you telling them,a good friend would give you a patient hearing for all your problems and helps you at times of distress and over a period of time say 1 year become your close friends, friends are people who help you and whom you help but such close level of intimacy is yet to start all this I would like to add that close friends are like precious jewels whom you should hold on to and should not let misunderstandings creep in,because misunderstandings are like viruses which breeds mistrust and will ultimately break the strong bond of friendship remove misunderstandings is very easy provided your friend has belief in you else their is no point of trying it because without a strong bond of belief as foundation the monument of friendship wont survive,So be careful while trying to make friends as wrong people as friends can lead you astray and will cause a lot of heartache

The Mahatma-A legend in his own lifetime

Mahatma Gandhi was a legend in his own lifetime.Any body who knows the story of india's freedom struggle would know the sacrifices mahatma did for the nation. He dedicated his life for the upliftment of the country. He was a affluent barister who had a flourishing practise. When he saw the inhuman conditions in which people were living in india, his heart was moved. He became a semi clad fakir. He challeged all known conceptions of freedom movements arround the world.Nowhere in the world had a nation got independence purely based on a freedom struggle which was based on truth and nonviolence. His greatest achievement was that he was able to unify india in to one strong entity which was earlier composed of several warring groups and states. He was also a social reformer who raised his voice against many social evils like untouchability. Thanks to his untiring efforts and also due to efforts of other brave sons of india,India got its independence on augest 15 ,1947.All through his life he had campainged againgst communal violence and hatred among the religions. He had to pay a heavy price for it as he was assasinated by a hindu religious fanatic who thought that mahatma was destroying the hindu religion by bending too much before muslims. But even though he is gone his principles and messages are still valid and we can buid a peaceful and better world by heeding to his messages and practsing them

Love-The Most Beautiful Thing in World

Today i thought i will speak about love.I believe it is the most beautiful thing and the most stupid thing in the world. When you fall in love your brain stops functioning and heart take over. You start thinking about things which you know are not practical. You get jealous, hurt and angry. The biggest hapiness in life is to know that the person whom you love is also in love with you.But the biggest pain is when you know that the person with whom you are in love with never looked at you in that way.But Love is not to hold on to a person who does not like you,but let her go.If she comes back to you let her go again,if she returns again back to you, dont let her go she is yours. She is your perfect life partner. You are the most lucky person if you get a perfect life partner.Your life will become heaven.I hope each person in the world will get their perfect life partner
